In Jacksonville, a different kind of celebration was supporting the economy through some German traditions.

The 3rd annual Downtown Oktoberfest, celebrating the first social district in downtown Jacksonville. The family friendly event included Stein holding, bratwurst eating and even best dressed competitions. News 12 spoke with Amy Youngwho, one of the vendors who says its about more than just an entertaining event.

All the funds are actually going to the Smith ferry community center, which is ran by the Seabury community council for the community we put on global event events. We do bingo monthly. We have rentals out here at the community center and all those funds help fund the festival every year.

Of course included in the celebrations were local food trucks and vendors getting to support their businesses as well as German inspired menus featuring different German foods and beers.
