FORT PIERCE — Fort Pierce Mayor Linda Hudson will have a seat at the table when Florida city leaders develop their priorities for the 2026-27 legislative session.
Hudson has been appointed to the Florida League of Cities’ Finance and Taxation Policy Committee, one of five committees that help develop the organization’s annual legislative platform.
The committee will examine proposed legislation involving municipal finance, taxation and other fiscal issues and advise the League on how those measures could affect cities.
Hudson also will provide input on legislation and help shape the League’s positions on issues involving local government authority and decision-making.
“This is my opportunity to make sure the local voices of Fort Pierce residents are heard in the legislative process,” Hudson said. “It is imperative that our citizens understand the consequences of legislative action on the ability of local government to serve our citizens.”
The Florida League of Cities represents municipalities across the state and advocates on issues affecting local governments.
Hudson also has been involved with the Treasure Coast Regional League of Cities, which brings municipal officials from the region together to discuss issues affecting their communities.
Her appointment comes as Florida cities prepare for another legislative session in which state lawmakers will consider measures that could affect municipal revenues, taxes and local government operations.
The Finance and Taxation Policy Committee will help identify those issues and develop recommendations for the League’s legislative platform.
