Students let their creativity flow for the Campus Activities Board’s Brush it Off Event on Monday night.
CAB offered students tote bags, bandanas and shirts to paint on the Trevor Colbourn Lawn. Extra space was made for students to paint in Foxtail Coffee to accommodate light rain.
Some students opted to head inside to enjoy the cafe’s calming atmosphere and dim lights, while others worked on their colorful canvases while enjoying Trevor Colbourn Lawn.
Students painted solo and in groups, creating a flurry of creativity with their varied canvases laid out.
Gloria Candela, sophomore political science major and CAB Impact director, and Meira Lee, junior animation and visualization major and CAB Fine Arts director, planned the event together.
Candela said she thinks the annual event is great for students to meet new people.
“Even if you come to it alone, you can meet new people outside of your major, maybe someone that just has really similar interests to you,” Candela said.
Lee said the goal of the event was to provide students a space to relax outside of classes.
“This is a very simple event, but that is kind of the whole intention,” Lee said. “We just want to bring the students of UCF in one area with their friends, or to meet someone new.”

Elliot Odom, sophomore health sciences major, said the event is great for getting out early in the semester.
“I did this last semester, and it was really fun,” Odom said. “I hope to do more in the future.”
Kaylee Chaloupka, sophomore theatre major, said the event was great for gathering with friends and a good start to the week.
Lee said CAB has a variety of events planned for the Fall Semester, such as the upcoming Michael Jackson-themed MJ Knight on Thursday, October 1. CAB will screen the “Michael” movie, test students on trivia and hold a Michael Jackson look-alike contest.
