Popular St. Petersburg bagel spot Pete’s Bagels is moving to a new home four blocks down the street.

“We are excitedabout the move,” owner Steven Peterman said by phone Tuesday. “In the end, it felt like a good step forward.”

Pete’sflagship Grand Central location will soonmove from 2361 First Ave. S to thebuilding formerly occupied by the now-shuttered vegan restaurant Good Intentions.

“We hope to honor Good Intentions with more robust vegan options,” Peterman said.

Pete’s ownership team plans to open at the new space at 1900 First Ave. S. in early October, a social media post said Sunday.

“The new space will act even more as our flagship space. It will be a community hub,” Peterman said. “More seating (30 plus), more food options and a larger general store.”

Pete’s moved into its currentspot in 2020. The social media post citedstructural damage to the building and difficulties in trying to grow in the spaceas reasons the business was relocating.

Founded in 2019 as a neighborhood general store and bakery in Historic Uptown, Pete’s has since expanded with five locations across Tampa Bay. In February, the latest Pete’s opened at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs.

Pete’s is owned by husband-and-wife team Sara and Steven Peterman. The bagels are made from scratch daily: rolled, boiled and baked every morning. Pete’s is known for its bagel sandwiches, pastries, coffee and inclusive family-friendly atmosphere.
