Zac Brown, the country music singer-songwriter and Grammy Award-winning artist, has been named the godfather of Margaritaville at Sea’s newest ship.
As the ship’s godfather, Brown will perform onboard and christen the Margaritaville Beachcomber as part of its inaugural celebration in Miami in January 2027. The Jimmy Buffett collaborator also had a hand in designing the cruise line’s new vessel.
Brown helped create the Beachcomber’s “first-of-its-kind” Same Boat music venue, working with Margaritaville at Sea on everything from design and artwork to music program. He will also headline an exclusive concert in Nassau on Jan. 28, 2027, as Margaritaville at Sea’s three ships come together for their first gathering.
“It’s been so much fun working with the Margaritaville at Sea family to bring Same Boat on Beachcomber to life,” said Brown in a news release. “I’m really proud of what we’ve created together, and being named Godfather of Beachcomber is a true honor … What I love most is knowing that people are going to step on this ship with their families and friends, have an amazing time and make memories they’ll have forever. I’m just really excited to be a part of it and can’t wait for people to experience her.”
As a cruise line that seeks to carry forward the music and legacy of the late Buffet, Margaritaville at Sea sought to include Brown in creating this new ship and in a partnership that spans land and sea.

“Zac has become an important part of the Margaritaville at Sea family, and naming him godfather of Beachcomber is a natural next step in a partnership that continues to grow,” said Christopher Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea, in a news release. “He shares our belief that great music, memorable experiences and bringing people together can turn a vacation into something much more. Zac has already put his own stamp on Beachcomber, and we couldn’t imagine a better person to help us officially welcome her to the fleet.”
On land, Margaritaville at Sea is serving as presenting sponsor of Zac Brown Band’s 27-show Love & Fear U.S. Tour. At the band’s Aug. 2 performance at Fenway Park, Brown marked a record-breaking 15th consecutive sold-out show by personally providing a Margaritaville at Sea cruise vacation to every fan in attendance — more than 35,000 concertgoers and $43 million in vacations in what was “the largest audience gifting in live entertainment history,” according to the cruise line.

Margaritaville Beachcomber launches from PortMiami in January 2027, introducing 15 all-new venues alongside cruise line favorites. The ship will sail four- to eight-night itineraries to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean before repositioning to Galveston in October 2027.
The Margaritaville Beachcomber previously sailed in Mediterranean as the Costa Fortuna, built in 2003. The 102,500-gross-ton vessel will undergo a 12-week upgrade and rebrand in dry dock before it reemerges as Margaritaville at Sea’s largest of its three vessels.
