The deputy was helping inform residents of the fire, knocking on doors and telling people they needed to get out of the building as smoke billowed from another unit.
A woman answered the door and told the deputy that there was a bed-bound resident inside the unit who couldn’t get out on his own.

With no wheelchair or mobility aid on hand, the deputy had few options other than calling another deputy for help carrying the man out.
PCSO identified the two deputies as Deputy Areostatico and Deputy Hery, who carried the resident out of the unit, down the stairs, and to safety.
