A man was killed in a shooting early Wednesday morning in Frenchtown, according to a social media incident alert from the Tallahassee Police Department.

Officers found the man in the 700 block of Delaware Street at 1 a.m. suffering from a gunshot wound.

“Life-saving measures were attempted, but sadly, the victim died on scene,” TPD said. “This remains an open and active investigation and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”

The fatal shooting marks at least the 45th serious shooting in the capital city and county this year. So far in 2026, 12 people have died and at least 31 people have been injured, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence that tracks incidents involving injury, death or a clear risk of serious harm.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident but did not speak with officers on scene to contact TPD at 850-891-4200. Individuals may also remain anonymous by contacting Crime Solvers at 850-574-8477.
