Southwest enters the contest mired in a four-game losing streak after opening the season with a 38-0 shutout victory over Coral Park. The Eagles have managed just 14 combined points during their current skid, including two shutout losses.
The Explorers are riding a three-game winning streak following their lone defeat of the season, a 31-24 loss at powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas. Columbus is coming off a dominant 58-0 blanking of Homestead last week and appears to be hitting its stride in district play (3-0).
History is not on Southwest’s side in this matchup. When these teams last met in October 2021, Columbus cruised to a 49-7 victory.
Opening kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 1 with a live TV broadcast on NFHS Network.
