PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A Port St. Lucie man was charged after police said a search of his home found suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, stolen identification documents, cash, a revolver and ammunition.
Port St. Lucie police SWAT officers served a search warrant about 5:30 a.m. Sept. 22 at 406 SW Fields Ave., where Bruce Alexander Francis, 30, and five other people exited the home, according to arrest reports.
Francis told detectives that any drugs in the home belonged to him, but declined to provide further information, police said. He also denied having a phone, though investigators said they found the cellphone allegedly used in a prior cocaine transaction.
A separate arrest affidavit said police used a confidential informant earlier in September to buy about 3.5 grams of cocaine from Francis at the home. The substance later tested presumptively positive for cocaine and weighed about 4 grams, the report said. Francis was also charged with selling cocaine and using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony in that case.
A woman told police she shared the home’s master bedroom with Francis and a baby. She said Francis stayed home with the children during the day and that she did not know what he did for work, according to the report.
“To me, that is absolutely ludicrous. There’s no way that that should happen in this community. You have children. You just don’t do that. So I’m very upset that that is in our neighborhood,” said Gail Lucas, a neighbor.
Lucas said she has seen three children at the house. She said she was saddened that police found drugs in the home where there were kids.
“That’s just horrid. It’s just so shameful. Innocent children. It’s just, oh, it gives me the creeps,” Lucas said.
Detectives said they found suspected cocaine in the master bedroom and bathroom, including bags in and around a toilet. SWAT officers reported seeing Francis run from the bedroom to the bathroom and throw something before closing the door, the affidavit said.

Police also reported finding a Fanta bottle containing a green liquid in the refrigerator that tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine. The liquid weighed about 180.5 grams, according to the report.
The search also turned up $2,560 in cash, a .22-caliber revolver, .22-caliber and 9mm ammunition, scales, plastic baggies, suspected marijuana and THC products, police said.

In the master bedroom closet and elsewhere in the home, police said they found driver’s licenses, Social Security cards, debit cards and credit cards belonging to several other people. The report identifies documents belonging to people in Texas and Florida.
Francis was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, marijuana possession, possession of drug equipment, three counts of possessing another person’s identification without consent, evidence tampering and two counts of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon. He was also charged in the earlier alleged cocaine sale investigation.
“I’m glad that they did, you know, take care of that,” Lucas said after she learned Francis has been arrested.
Police said Francis had a 2014 felony conviction. His bond was set at $530,000 on Tuesday.
