FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — Oktoberfest is taking over downtown Fort Myers this weekend as Millennial Brewing Company celebrates 10 years of its annual German-inspired festival.

The 10th Annual Millennial Oktoberfest runs Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4 at the brewery at 1811 Royal Palm Avenue.

The three-day celebration will feature German beer, traditional food, live music, stein-hoisting contests and eating competitions.

The brewery will also transform its 6,300-square-foot space into a Munich-style beer hall for the weekend.

Festivalgoers can try house-brewed German-style beers including Märzen, Festbier and Hefeweizen, along with traditional favorites like bratwurst, schnitzel, sauerbraten and fresh-made pretzels.

There will also be plenty of competition. Stein-hoisting and keg-hoisting contests are scheduled throughout the weekend, along with eating contests featuring schnitzel, pretzels, bratwurst and German platters.

Friday’s festivities run from 5 to 10 p.m., followed by an Oktoberfest After Dark Y2K-themed dance party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday’s main celebration runs from noon to 10 p.m., followed by After Dark, while Sunday is family day from noon to 5 p.m.

Admission is free, parking is free and the event is family-friendly during the daytime. Leashed dogs are also welcome in the outdoor beer garden.
