TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – District tournaments start in less than two weeks for high school volleyball teams in the state of Florida, and Florida High is showing they’re going to be one of the teams to beat in 3A.
The Seminoles 17-2 on the year, and even more impressive? They’ve lost just six sets all season long. They’re a team with veteran seniors, but just three of them. This team boasts a lot of talented underclassmen.
What makes this group special? They play hard and they play together, and that combination has proved to be flawless.
“They’re an athletic group and they want to play fast,” said head coach Glynn Barksdale. “They’re a powerful group and they want to hit hard. It’s a blast getting to watch them play because when they’re in their groove, they’re a lot of fun to watch. I think we’re starting to get to that phase where once we get past a certain set in a match, we don’t back down. That’s what we’ve been trying to lean on right now is don’t slow down, keep the pressure on, and let’s just keep going.”
Florida High heads to Panama City this weekend for a tournament before wrapping up the regular season next week.
