FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — The School District of Lee County will celebrate the grand opening of the newly rebuilt Cypress Lake Middle School on Friday.

School Principal Matt Miller, Superintendent Dr. Denise Carlin and the School Board of Lee County will officially cut the ribbon to open the school.

The rebuilding fulfills a promise made to the community during the voter-approved 2018 half-cent sales tax campaign.

As one of the district’s three designated arts centers for sixth, seventh and eighth graders, the rebuilt campus features upgrades tailored to specialized arts instruction.

The new facility doubles the size of both the dance studio and the music room, giving student performers world-class spaces to refine their crafts. Construction at Cypress Lake Middle School will continue through February of 2027.

The old cafeteria needs to be taken down, the portables students have been using for class need to be removed and a new bus ramp needs to be installed.

The ribbon cutting will be streamed live at 10 a.m. here.
