All southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike were closed in St. Lucie County late Friday morning because of a vehicle fire, according to Florida 511.
The fire was reported before mile marker 162. Florida 511 listed the incident as major and said all lanes were closed as of 11:37a.m.
The incident began at about 10:56 a.m. Motorists should avoid the area and seek alternate routes while crews respond.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured or how long the closure would last.
