Six seniors from The Bolles School have joined the ranks of National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalists.
Seniors Nicholas Baker, Vichy Chen, Derrick Dow, Akash Gusani, Ava Ludwig and Saian Patel are among the less-than-one percent of high school seniors who advanced to semifinalists of the 1.2 million scholars who applied to the 2027 program last year.
These six students must now submit detailed scholarship applications, detailing their academic record, school participation and community activity, demonstrated leadership abilities, honors and awards received, and employment information. To advance as a finalist, students must have an outstanding high school academic record, along with an endorsement and recommendation from a high school official, among other requirements.
Approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million will be awarded next spring.
