Entering Saturday, the Florida Gators are one of the nation’s most talked about teams.
The program appears to be in the early stages of a resurgence under Jon Sumrall, reaching No. 8 in the AP Poll (the team’s highest ranking since 2020) following a 52-28 demolition of then-No. 4 Ole Miss in the Swamp.
They enter Saturday favored over a Missouri squad that faces lingering questions from a 3-1 start. The Tigers have been good, not great, and that wasn’t enough to beat a tough Mississippi State team playing in front of a raucous crowd under the lights at Davis Wade Stadium.
But it’s tough to go into Faurot Field as the road team and steal a win unless you’re truly elite, making this matchup a bellwether for both sides and their ambitions for the rest of the year.
