TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Morning lows on Tuesday are forecasted to dip below 30°F, prompting the first freeze warnings of the season.
First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike McCall says the low in Leon County will likely get to 29°F, while temperatures in South Georgia and other rural areas may reach 25 or 26°F.
If you factor in the wind, we are forecast to see wind chills that could dip into the low 20s across the whole region.

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee issued a Freeze Warning for Monday evening into Tuesday morning because of the low temperatures. Because this is the first freeze of the season, crops and other sensitive vegetation could be killed off.
Residents who have unprotected outdoor plumbing could experience damage if pipes freeze. Residents are encouraged to cover outdoor pipes and spigots to protect their property.
The Freeze Warning goes into effect at 9 pm EST Monday and ends at 8 am EST Tuesday.
The Cold Weather Advisory, issued for the frigid temps, goes into effect at 11 pm EST and ends at 8 am EST Tuesday.
Fire Danger
Cold weather is not the only danger being faced in our area. The National Weather Service has also issued a Red Flag Warning for the entire Panhandle of Florida. Meteorologists say that with the cold air moving in, it will also usher in very dry air with winds blowing 15 to 20 mph.

That combination is enough to heighten wildfire risks, prompting the Red Flag Warning. The National Weather Service said “any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.”
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination ofstrong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures cancontribute to extreme fire behavior.
