Police say the man shot the woman before he pulled into a business parking lot near the University of South Florida. The woman died at the scene.
TAMPA, Fla. — A woman is dead after a shooting inside a vehicle in Tampa on Saturday.
Tampa police say it happened just before 11:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of East Fowler Avenue, near the University of South Florida campus.
According to investigators, a man in his early 70s was driving down Fowler Avenue with a woman who was also in her early 70s. They say the man shot the woman before pulling into the parking lot of a nearby business.
The woman was shot in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene. Officers took the man into custody and took the gun as evidence.
As of 3 p.m. Saturday, investigators are interviewing the man to figure out what led up to the shooting. They say this was an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the public.
