MARTIN COUNTY — For women who may put off a mammogram because of cost or access, Promise Fund is bringing free breast cancer screening to Martin County this month.
The South Florida nonprofit will host Mammography Screening Days on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 24, in partnership with Florida Mobile Mammography.
The first screening will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at Florida Community Health Center, 3441 S.E. Willoughby Blvd., Stuart.
A second screening will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Port Salerno Church of God, 4605 S.E. Cove Road, Stuart.
“The Promise Fund is committed to making screenings accessible to everyone, particularly those who may otherwise go without care,” said Patricia Ferrer, Martin County’s Navigator. “Early detection can make a meaningful difference by making treatment easier to manage and allowing people to focus on their health, their families and their daily lives.”
Promise Fund serves women in Martin, Broward and Palm Beach counties who are uninsured, underinsured or have limited or no access to health care.
The organization currently operates four co-located screening programs at partner sites in Palm Beach and Broward counties and is working to secure funding to establish a co-located program in Martin County.
Founded in 2018 by Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, Promise Fund works to increase survivorship from breast and cervical cancer by providing guided support and access to screenings, early detection and treatment.
Promise Fund has reached more than 145,000 women in South Florida through education and advocacy. More than 27,000 women have received access to screenings, diagnostics and care, and the organization has helped 286 women diagnosed with cancer navigate treatment.
