A Margate man is facing charges of murder and attempted murder after a double shooting in Pompano Beach on Friday, the Broward sheriff’s office announced.

According to detectives, the victims, Robert Vaughn and another man, were gambling in the front yard of a home in the 1500 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue at about 11:53 p.m. An argument over gambling began with Rau Lee Davis Jr., 50, who detectives say fired shots that hit Vaughn and the other man.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue pronounced 46-year-old Vaughn, a resident of Fort Lauderdale, dead. The other man received medical treatment for his injuries.

Davis left the scene of the shooting but later came back. Detectives arrested him on one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder.
