A man was killed in Osceola County on Saturday night after being hit and killed by a train, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to a news release from the FHP, around 7:20 p.m. the train was traveling northbound in Osceola just west of Michigan Avenue and approaching Garden Street when an adult man was spotted walking inside the tracks.
“The conductor attempted to avoid a collision and applied the emergency brake … but was unable to come to a controlled stop,” the FHP said. The left front of the train struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The FHP said the Medical Examiner’s office will contact the agency once they have positively identified the deceased man.
The crash remains under investigation.
