Quick thoughts from South Florida Sun Sentinel staffers on the Dolphins’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium as Miami falls to 0-4.

Chris Perkins, Dolphins Columnist

The Dolphins had penalty issues and tight end coverage issues. The pass rush showed up and the run game showed up. But untimely errors were costly. It wasn’t a bad game, all things considered. But it wasn’t good.

David Furones, Dolphins Writer

I again commend the Dolphins for holding strong against an unbeaten team. The defense has shown so much the past two weeks. The pass rush got going this week and collected its first handful of sacks. Ollie Gordon also got rolling in the ground game, as Miami stacks some positives to build on coming back home.

The Dolphins keep creeping closer, this time a toe width away. And, if the pass rush does resemble what we saw Sunday, they could easily still win a few games and surrender any realistic shot at the first pick in the 2027 draft, for whoever cares about that. Incredible that the Dolphins have played teams with a combined 15-1 record if the 49ers were to hang on to their 10-3 fourth-quarter lead over the Denver Broncos.

The Dolphins continue to have … moments of good NFL play. They just need to start stacking those moments. Sunday, a physical pass rush and a physical run game showed up. They could very well bite some team with a much better record.
