Tampa, FL – A nationwide comparison of food costs and culinary offerings has earned Tampa a place among America’s top destinations for food enthusiasts.
WalletHub ranked Tampa seventh in its 2026 Best Foodie Cities in America study, giving the city an overall score of 68.40. The personal finance company evaluated 182 cities using 28 indicators covering affordability and the diversity, accessibility and quality of their food scenes.
Florida had three cities in the national top 10. Miami took first place with 74.62 points, while Orlando finished sixth with 69.21 points, immediately ahead of Tampa.
The study examined grocery prices, restaurant meal costs, access to affordable restaurants with high ratings and the availability of food festivals. Researchers scored individual measures on a scale of 100, with higher values representing more favorable conditions and costs.
Tampa placed eighth nationally in diversity, accessibility and quality, compared with 78th in affordability. Those two categories contributed differently to the final results, with culinary diversity, access and quality accounting for 70 percent of the overall score and affordability making up 30 percent.
The assessment included more than traditional restaurant dining. Food trucks, specialty food retailers and options for people who enjoy preparing meals at home also factored into WalletHub’s examination of local culinary offerings.
Portland, Oregon, San Francisco, Seattle and Austin followed Miami in the overall standings. After Orlando and Tampa, Las Vegas, Sacramento and Denver completed the top 10.
WalletHub limited its analysis to each city’s municipal boundaries, excluding surrounding communities. Tampa’s ranking therefore reflects the city rather than the broader Tampa Bay metropolitan area.
