Jacksonville gas prices drop 29 cents from last week, AAA data shows

  • October 5, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Drivers in Northeast Florida are paying less at the pump this week, with Jacksonville-area gas prices falling 29 cents per gallon from a week ago, according to AAA data.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in the Jacksonville metro stood at $4.09 on Monday, down from $4.38 a week ago — a drop of about 29 cents. Prices are also slightly lower than Monday’s statewide Florida average of $4.06 per gallon.

Year over year, however, the difference is stark: Jacksonville-area drivers are paying more than a dollar more per gallon than the $3.03 average recorded this time last year.

The national average for regular unleaded sits at $4.37 per gallon — about 28 cents above the Florida average and about 28 cents above the Jacksonville metro average.

Florida’s statewide average for diesel is $5.81 per gallon, down from a record high of $6.35 set Sept. 18.

Southeast Georgia at the Pump

Drivers just across the state line are paying significantly less. Georgia’s statewide average for regular unleaded is $3.85 per gallon — more than 20 cents cheaper than the Florida average.

The three closest Southeast Georgia metro markets to Northeast Florida all came in well below the Jacksonville average Monday:

Brunswick, the closest Georgia metro to the Florida state line, had the lowest regular unleaded average of the three at $3.71 per gallon — nearly 38 cents less than the Jacksonville metro average.

What’s Behind the Drop?

AAA reported Monday that the national average dipped following a record-setting September, citing easing crude oil prices and seasonal demand shifts as gasoline consumption typically declines in the fall.
