ORLANDO, Fla. – After an 8-year hiatus, TEDxOrlando is returning to the Orange County Convention Center’s newly renovated Linda W. Chapin Theater.
Event organizers went through more than 630 applicants and selected 13 local speakers, including Orlando real estate leader Ken Pozek, comedian Ken Miller, and wedding dress designer Hayley Paige.
This year’s theme is ‘The Space Between.’ It’s a nod to Central Florida’s history with space exploration, and this event explores the gaps between people, ideas, and perspectives, and what can happen when we cross them.
The 13 speakers will discuss Orlando’s evolving identity, preserving history, finding laughter in adversity, and how we all connect with each other. Three live performances will also take place between talks throughout the day.
TED is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to discovering, debating, and spreading ideas that spark conversation, deepen understanding, and drive meaningful change.
It began in 1984 as a conference focused on Technology, Entertainment, and Design.
Since then, independently run TEDx brings that exchange of ideas to different communities.
TEDxOrlando is independently organized by a volunteer team led by Liam Rogers and Nick Rogers.
They bring a decade of experience producing TEDx events in London.
The event creates a rare opportunity for people from different industries, backgrounds, and areas of expertise to share their ideas in real time with a live audience.
TEDxOrlando is on Oct. 17 and runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
