Madilyn DestefanoSEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. —

A man was arrested after police said he attacked an employee at a Burlington store in Altamonte Springs Tuesday night.

According to the Altamonte Springs Police Department, Ruben Bryant Curtis, 32, was being actively restrained by employees and customers when officers arrived on the scene.

He was put in handcuffs as police began to conduct their initial investigation, according to the arrest report.

The victim, who told Curtis to leave the store after Curtis was showing signs of intoxication and inappropriate behavior, was pushed to the ground.

The arrest report said Curtis was kicking and striking the victim, leaving lacerations on the right upper forehead and both elbows.

He also threw a shopping cart at the victim while they were on the ground, the report said.

Police said he was in “an extremely agitated state,” yelling profanities at random people in the area.

“Curtis appeared to be extremely intoxicated,” the arrest report added. “Curtis’s demeanor was erratic, and he repeatedly yelled and screamed.”

Police said they were able to detect a strong odor of alcohol.

He is charged with battery on a person 65 years or older. Curtis is being held without bond.
