The Rays became the first and only team to earn a Divisional Series sweep in the 2026 MLB Playoffs, beating the New York Yankees 4-3 at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night. It was not a game without controversy, when New York’s Anthony Volpe was denied a tying home run for the Yankees when a replay review determined a fan interfered with his drive to deep left field.
Victor Mesa Jr. hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer off Max Fried in the sixth inning to give Tampa Bay the winning edge.
