A man has died after his truck crashed into a canal in Sunrise on Thursday, officials said.

The incident happened when the truck crashed through a wall on the west side of Broward Health’s freestanding emergency room near West Oakland Park Boulevard and Northwest 94th Avenue, Sunrise Fire Rescue officials said.

The truck then crashed into the canal that runs adjacent to the property.

A Sunrise Fire Rescue battalion chief and operations battalion chief arrived before the dive team and entered the water without dive gear.

They were able to break a window on the truck and pull the man out of the sinking truck, officials said.

The man was unconscious and not breathing but rescue workers were able to restore a pulse as he was rushed to Broward General Medical Center.

The man, whose identity wasn’t released, later died at the hospital, officials said.

Chopper6 video from the scene showed a diver emerge from the canal as first responders gathered on the embankment. Meanwhile, fire trucks and police tape blocked a nearby road.
