A Florida police officer is facing charges and has been relieved of duty after allegedly biting and scratching her boyfriend in a domestic dispute.
Marcia Sangronis spent Tuesday, October 6, in jail after an argument with her boyfriend of two years allegedly turned physical, according to NBC10. Sangronis, 38, was reportedly working as a police officer with the North Bay Village Police Department for about a year. The argument with her boyfriend reportedly stemmed from his lack of interest in joining her in pursuing a career in law enforcement.
The unnamed boyfriend reportedly spent the night at her place, where she brought up the topic before they went to bed and then immediately when they woke up. By 11 a.m., he decided that he wanted to leave and told her that he wanted to break up. That’s when things allegedly turned physical.

Sangronis is accused of blocking the doorway with her body.
“The victim attempted again to reach for the doorknob to leave when (Sangronis) started to attack him. The victim said she scratched him multiple times on his arms, face and back with her nails,” an arrest report viewed by NBC10 reads. “The victim said she bit him multiple times as well on his left forearm. The victim said he was able to get away from (Sangronis) and leave her residence. The victim said (she) has been physically and emotionally abusive in the two years that they have been together.”
After spending the night in jail, CBS News reports that she bonded out after appearing before a judge where her charges were reduced from aggravated battery to simple battery, which is a misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $1,000. In addition, she was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.
In a statement to the outlet, North Bay Police announced that Sangronis has been relieved of duty with pay and noted that it expects high standards of conduct and full accountability for all its officers on duty.
