FORT MYERS, Fla. —
A driver was arrested after troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol say he fled a traffic stop, resulting in a PIT maneuver and crash.
FHP says that troopers tried to stop a speeding vehicle on SR-82 and Ortiz Avenue in Fort Myers Thursday night.
Troopers say the suspect drove away, heading west on SR-82. Troopers performed a PIT maneuver at the intersection of Veronica S. Shoemaker Boulevard and SR-82. The vehicle crashed and landed on its side.
The driver, later identified as 18-year-old Alan Hernandez Sales, was arrested. FHP says that his blood alcohol level was .158.
Hernandez Sales faces charges of fleeing and eluding and DUI. FHP says he is still in the hospital and being evaluated after the crash.
