FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — The Lee County Supervisor of Elections Office conducted logic and accuracy testing Friday morning on voting equipment ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
The testing was scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Melvin Morgan Constitutional Complex, located at 2480 Thompson St. in Fort Myers.
According to the Elections Office, the testing is required by Florida law and is designed to verify that voting systems and equipment are functioning properly and accurately counting ballots.
The tests cover tabulators used for vote-by-mail, early voting and Election Day voting.
The testing was open to the public and conducted in the presence of the Lee County Canvassing Board.
The board includes Lee County Judge Devin George, Investigative Supervisor Steven A. Scalici of the State Attorney’s Office for the 20th Judicial Circuit and Fort Myers City Councilman Fred Burson.
Lee County Supervisor of Elections Jenna Persons-Mulicka is not serving on the Canvassing Board for the general election because she is a candidate on the ballot.
According to the Elections Office, Persons-Mulicka will continue performing her regular duties, including serving in an advisory capacity to the board, as required by Florida law.
Chief Judge J. Frank Porter appointed Burson to serve in her place.
