Love, laughter, and a little patriotic rivalry take center stage in Neil Simon’s The Star-Spangled Girl, playing October 20 through November 8, 2026, at Florida Repertory Theatre’s Historic Arcade Theatre in downtown Fort Myers.

This fast-paced romantic comedy follows two young men struggling to publish a “protest” magazine in San Francisco. Their lives take an unexpected turn when an all-American girl moves in next door. She’s a former Olympic swimmer with strong opinions, and she quickly becomes the center of a tangled love triangle.

As attraction grows and opposing viewpoints collide, the trio finds that falling in love can be even more complicated than making ends meet. Packed with Neil Simon’s signature wit, sharp dialogue, and comic misunderstandings, The Star-Spangled Girl delivers a lively evening of romance and laughter.

Directed by Florida Rep’s Producing Artistic Director, Greg Longenhagen, this production invites audiences to enjoy a spirited comedy about ambition, differences, and the unpredictable business of love.
