PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A major development decision could be made tonight in western Port St. Lucie.

The Planning and Zoning Board will consider a request to rezone nearly 360 acres of vacant land north of Southwest Becker Road, between Southwest Sundance Vista Boulevard and Rangeline Road.

The area, west of I-95, could soon be transformed from agricultural land into a master-planned residential community.

City staff says the Wilson Grove Development of Regional Impact was first approved in 2006. Since then, its conceptual development plan has been amended three times in 2021, 2023, and again this year.

The proposal would rezone this parcel to a Master Planned Unit Development, or MPUD.

The conceptual plan calls for up to 1,200 homes, along with parks, lakes, clubhouses, and recreational areas.

Traffic is also part of the conversation, with access planned from Becker Road and Sundance Vista Boulevard.

If the Planning and Zoning Board recommends rezoning the property tonight, the proposal will then go to City Council for a vote later this month.
