High school football ‘26: Friday night’s scoreboard and looking ahead to Week 9

  • October 10, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Rain and lightning scrambled up the high school football schedule in Week 8, with multiple games postponed and rescheduled as Hurricane Isais makes its way towards Florida.

The Varsity 4 Game of the Week between Middleburg and Orange Park was postponed at the start of the third quarter with the Broncos leading 15-13. The teams plan to finish in the coming weeks. It was the same story between Clay and Fleming Island with the Blue Devils up 11-6 before weather caused the postponement. That game will be completed either Nov. 3 or 4.

No. 4 Ed White hammered Ribault 52-7 to set up a huge clash in Week 9 against No. 2 Columbia. That game will determine the District 3-4A title.

Nease topped host Fletcher 31-27 to win a crucial District 2-5A game and stay in the district race. The Panthers (4-3) need to keep winning and hope for Mandarin to drop games against Bartram Trail and Beachside to try and emerge with an unlikely district crown. The Mustangs looked very good in a 34-10 romp over Ponte Vedra. The Mustangs can wrap up the 2-5A crown with a win over Beachside in Week 9 and a Nease win over Bartram Trail.

In District 4-2A, Bradford topped Newberry 34-17 to win the district title in head coach Ross Baker’s first season. The Tornadoes are 8-0 and host No. 8 University Christian in a major rankings points battle in Week 9.
