CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Early risers on Florida’s Space Coast will have something worth setting an alarm for Tuesday, as SpaceX prepares to launch its Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Dragon CRS-35 spacecraft to the International Space Station.
Liftoff is set for 6:33 a.m. from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
A backup launch opportunity is available Wednesday at 6:08 a.m. if needed.
Residents in Central Florida should also expect to hear sonic booms as the Falcon 9’s first stage booster returns for landing. Following stage separation, the booster will attempt its eighth landing at Landing Zone 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
The Dragon spacecraft has flown three previous resupply missions — CRS-26, CRS-29 and CRS-33. After an approximately 52-hour flight, Dragon is expected to autonomously dock with the station Thursday at approximately 11 a.m.
