Derrick ShawLEE COUNTY, Fla. —

Residents in unincorporated Lee County, the Town of Fort Myers Beach, Village of Estero and the City of Bonita Springs will be able to put their trash, recycling and yard waste at the curb later beginning Monday, Oct. 26.

Lee County Solid Waste announced the standard curbside collection schedule will resume, with residents asked to have materials at the curb by 6:30 a.m. instead of the summer set-out time of 5 a.m.

County officials said the earlier April-through-October set-out time helped contracted collection crews complete their routes earlier during the hottest months of the year.

The change only affects the time residents should place materials at the curb. Collection days will remain the same.

The updated set-out time applies to unincorporated areas including Captiva, Pine Island, Matlacha, North Fort Myers, Fort Myers Shores, Alva, Lehigh Acres, South Fort Myers and Iona, as well as Fort Myers Beach, Estero and Bonita Springs.

Residents can download the Recycle Coach app to view their curbside collection schedule, sign up for collection alerts and learn how to properly dispose of various waste materials. More information is available at leegov.com.
