The Cape Coral Quarter Auction Queens will host its monthly Quarter Auction starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Hooked Island Grill in Cape Coral.

It will feature a Chinese or chance auction, the opportunity to win auction items for two or three quarters, a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. In addition, there will be 10 local vendors on site.

The group explained that when attendees rent their paddles, a number matching the paddle numbers will go into a container that will be used to draw the winning numbers.

“When the auction begins, each auction item will be presented and ‘auctioned,’ one by one,” it reported. “Guests will use quarters and paddles to bid. But not to try to out-bid others, but rather bid quarters — typically two or three — on the item for a chance to win that item.”

Numbers will then be drawn from the numbered chips.

“If the guest has the number called and had placed a bit, they win the item. If the number called wasn’t played, numbers continue to be pulled until there is a winner,” the group reported.

The auction rounds will be followed by the door prize round.

Paddles will cost $3. Attendees will need to bring cash and quarters.

Food and beverages will be available.

The event will benefit the Cape Coral Municipal Charter School Foundation, which raises funds for events, sponsorships, educational grants, scholarships and athletic sports programs.

RSVPs are required.
