ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.  — The good news is there’s no waiting around.

The Rays get to go right back out on the field Tuesday night to right its Game 1 loss wrongs.

For five-plus innings Monday night, Tampa Bay was in complete control again.

Then they unraveled in a hurry.

Drew Rasmussen squandered a two-run lead on the mound, Tampa Bay’s bullpen let the game get away and the Rays stumbled to a 7-3 loss against the Cleveland Guardians in their American League Championship Series opener.

It was a stunning meltdown at Tropicana Field for the Rays, who matched Milwaukee for the best home record in the majors during the regular season.

Cue up Game 2.

The Rays will have Freddy Peralta on the mound while Cleveland counters with Parker Messick.

Peralta is 5-0 with an 0.93 ERA over his last seven starts, which dates back to Aug. 26.

Messick, who is from Plant City, allowed one run on six hits with six strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings at Tropicana Field on July 26.

First pitch at Tropicana Field is at 8 p.m.
