TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Leon County School Board is set to meet Tuesday night to discuss topics revolving around the district reserve, such as the $30 million loan it’s been considering.
Several items are on the agenda, including the district’s financial health and potential organizational changes.
One of the biggest topics is a $30 million loan that leaders previously said will help cover operational costs and payroll through the rest of 2026.
Leon County Superintendent Rocky Hanna said they needed the loan to make up for delayed funding while they await property tax revenue.

Hanna said that the district’s reserve funds are in the red, posing the question of whether this is a temporary issue or a sign of a more persistent budget problem.
The board is set to explore rebuilding the district reserve, as well as creating an organizational realignment implementation plan.
This could possibly include considering changes to job descriptions, pay grades and staffing arrangements.
In March, leaders approved $7.8 million in cuts, including staffing, arts and athletics and community groups.
