JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A teenage boy was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot early Wednesday on West 30th Street near Moncrief Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded at about 12:38 a.m. and found the juvenile suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, JSO said. He was taken to a local hospital. Investigators have not been able to speak with him because he is undergoing surgery, according to JSO.
The suspect has not been identified. Crime Scene Detectives were processing the scene, and detectives with the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit were canvassing for surveillance video and following up on leads. JSO said shell casings were recovered and the scene remained active as of its update.
Investigators said they believe the shooting was isolated. JSO said there were no other reported homes or businesses struck by gunfire, and nothing currently indicates the incident was domestic- or gang-related. Detectives do not yet know whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
Anyone with information is asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or email JSOCRIMETIPS@JAXSHERIFF.ORG. Tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
