Carson ZornCAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A man was arrested in Cape Coral after being accused of DUI in a crash where he rear-ended a vehicle.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department arrest report, officers responded to reports of a crash in the area of Del Prado Boulevard North and Averill Boulevard at around 11:42 a.m.

Officers spoke with Kristryan Aleksandrov, who was the driver of a Kia Soul that was involved in the crash, the report said. Aleksandrov told officers he had been traveling north on Del Prado Boulevard North, behind a Tesla. Aleksandrov said that the Tesla suddenly had its brakes applied, and that he could not stop in time and rear-ended the Tesla.

Officers then spoke with the driver of the Tesla, who told them he had been driving at a speed of 46 mph with cruise control set when Aleksandrov rear-ended his vehicle, the report said. The Tesla had approximately $10,000 worth of damage.

Suspicious that Aleksandrov was under the influence, officers told Aleksandrov they would be transitioning into a DUI investigation and asked Aleksandrov if he was willing to participate in standard field sobriety exercises, which he agreed to, the report said.

Aleksandrov failed the exercises, and officers conducted a breathalyzer test, which revealed that Aleksandrov’s BAC was between 0.225% and 0.226%, the report said.

Aleksandrov was arrested and faces charges of DUI and DUI property damage.
