A man is facing charges after he was accused of a disturbing indecent exposure incident in front of children in a popular Miami Beach park, police said.
Roberto Hernandez, 56, was arrested Tuesday on charges including indecent exposure while observing a child and possession of an open alcohol container, an arrest report said.
According to the report, Miami Beach Police officers were flagged down about a man, Hernandez, exposing himself in Lummus Park on Ocean Drive.
A witness said he was walking along the boardwalk when he saw the man unzip his pants and begin pleasuring himself, the report said.
The witness recorded the incident and the video showed Hernandez sitting on a bench about 15 feet away from the park’s shower stations, the report said.
Officers found Hernandez sitting on the bench next to a partially filled can of beer, and his pants were still unzipped and “his sexual organs could be seen,” the report said.
Another man told police he and his wife and their two young children were at the shower stations after leaving the beach and he was rinsing off his children when he saw Hernandez staring directly at the children while pleasuring himself, the report said.
Hernandez was taken into custody and booked into jail. On Wednesday, he appeared before a judge who appointed him a public defender, ordered him to stay away from the park, and set his bond at $2,650.
