Fort Lauderdale United FC has reinforced its roster by signing former University of Miami goalkeeper Lauren Rodriguez, pending league and federation approval.
The addition of the 5-foot-11 shot-stopper provides critical depth to the Fort Lauderdale goalkeeping unit alongside Haley Craig and Heather Hinz. With just six matches remaining in the fall campaign, the club is looking to solidify its defensive options as it makes a late push for a spot in the Gainbridge Super League Playoffs.
“Lauren is a talented goalkeeper with sharp reflexes and the ability to make important saves,” said Aly Hassan, General Manager of Fort Lauderdale United FC. “She adds quality and depth to our goalkeeping group, and we’re pleased to bring her into the squad for this important stretch of the season. We look forward to having her compete and contribute as we work toward our goals.”
A native of Hamilton, New York, Rodriguez brings extensive collegiate experience to the professional ranks. She spent the first four years of her career at Columbia University, appearing in 21 matches over three active seasons. Her tenure with the Lions was highlighted by a standout 2024 campaign where she started 16 matches, recorded 35 saves, and logged four shutouts to help secure seven victories.
For her final year of eligibility, Rodriguez transferred to South Florida to play for the University of Miami during the 2025/26 season. She concluded her collegiate career with 37 saves and five clean sheets across 1,491 minutes of action.
Rodriguez already possesses familiarity with the local soccer landscape and the club’s developmental pipeline, having previously spent time competing with Fort Lauderdale United FC’s USL W League affiliate during the 2025 season.
