A South Florida man accused of neglecting his children by keeping them in their rooms and depriving them of food, water and a bathroom was arrested on Tuesday, authorities said.

Wendy Louis, 40, was charged with two counts of child neglect.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at a home in Miami to conduct a welfare check, and the victims said they told family members that they weren’t being fed for days, were only allowed to drink water from the shower, were kept inside their rooms and weren’t allowed to use the bathroom.

An arrest report said that the children would go days without food because Louis believed the government was putting stuff in their food.

The children told deputies that they had a bucket in their room to go to the bathroom, and Louis would make them drink water from the shower, the report said.

Louis, the report said, also took the children out of school last August, and they haven’t returned and they weren’t home-schooled.

He was then arrested.
