TALLHASSEE, Fla. — Drivers along Centerville Road may soon notice fewer utility crews and a more resilient power system as the City of Tallahassee nears the finish line on a major electric reliability upgrade.

The city’s electric reliability project along Centerville Road is nearly complete, with crews now in Phase 4. Work includes replacing power lines and poles along the route from Hodges Drive to roughly Potts Road.

The project uses a stronger, tree-coded cable designed for the canopy road environment. The cable also allows for a narrower system profile, which the city says will further strengthen the system’s resilience against severe weather and improve reliability.
