Kim Kardashian’s been an open book for years on her reality shows. But someone has managed to get even more dirt out of her.
“Citizen Kim,” out Oct. 27, is an authorized biography of the TV star, 45, meaning the author got her OK and then some. Vogue writer Jonathan Van Meter researched his famous subject for five years, she revealed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday night, adding she didn’t make a cent, which ticked off momager Kris Jenner.
But the project was personal, and Kardashian has no regrets.
“I read a copy and like I cried after a chapter,” she told Kimmel. “I thought it was told so well in a way that I’ve never seen myself.”
The book follows the SKIMs billionaire in various stages of her fabulous life. Of most interest to locals is likely the ink spilled about her time shooting E!’s “Kourtney & Kim Take Miami” with her older sister in 2012.
In an excerpt published by New York magazine, Kardashian recounted that she had just begun dating Kanye West when she unexpectedly got pregnant with daughter North. Kardashian was not on birth control after a fertility doctor advised her she had poor quality eggs.
Breaking the news to the rapper was difficult because they hadn’t even had their “first fight” yet, the book reveals.
“I was crying so hard I couldn’t get it out,” she said in the excerpt. “He thought a family member of mine had died…He was like, ‘What’s happening?’ And I was just like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m pregnant.’ It came so out of left field for me; I was shocked. I don’t know why I was so shocked. Come on. But when the doctors tell you, ‘I don’t think you’ll ever get pregnant, you have the uterus of a 50-year-old, you’re going to have to do all this IVF.’”
The famous couple indeed stayed together, welcoming North in June 2013. West and Kardashian wed in Italy the next year and went on to have three more kids (two via surrogate). After seven years, she filed for divorce.
