Nearly 75 education supporters gathered last week at Key Colony Shopping Center to celebrate $80,000 in awards funded by the fourth annual Dominos for Education event.
The fundraiser supports the Liberty City Scholarship Fund, founded by longtime Key Biscayne residents Bill and Toby Rohrer. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, Cristo Rey High School received $30,000, the Miami Dade College Foundation received $40,000 and the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne received $10,000 to expand students’ educational opportunities, or as Bill calls it, “the domino effect.”
Since its founding, the fund has donated nearly $500,000 and helped 77 students pursue a college education.
Organizers thanked Key Colony Plaza manager Mercy Valle and José Castellanos of Kebo and Kebo’s Corner for providing the space; Andrew Britton of the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, Luciano Guala and Natalia Palma of Michele & Associates for helping prepare the celebration; and Novecento Key Biscayne for supplying linens and other materials.
The fifth annual Dominos for Education is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 16, 2027. To buy tickets or donate, click here.
