On December 8, JetBlue’s first-ever BlueFirst flight will take off from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Both hubs have been crucial for JetBlue over the years, with FLL in particular becoming the carrier’s first-ever destination.

JetBlue’s bold perk comes as the airline continues to improve its economy passenger satisfaction rate, rising to number three on the list — while also landing in the top tier for U.S. airlines with the best legroom in economy.

With its economy seats figured out, JetBlue is now turning its attention to premium travel, with its own unique and exciting spin on first-class with BlueFirst.

JetBlue Is Debuting Its First-Ever BlueFirst Perk Between Fort Lauderdale And Boston

Officially announced on October 15, JetBlue is adding BlueFirst on its major route between Boston and Fort Lauderdale, two critical hubs for the carrier. The established domestic daily route runs several times per week, with roughly four to five departures per day, depending on the time of year and day of the week. The flight of about three to three and a half hours is about to get a major upgrade with BlueFirst.

With fares as low as $249 one-way, the first-ever BlueFirst flight starts on December 8. Following its inaugural flight between Boston and Fort Lauderdale, the service will expand to other major routes, including flights between Florida and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York.

Joanna Geraghty, chief executive officer of JetBlue, says BlueFirst will provide first-class passengers with a memorable experience as the premium service will continue to be included on more flights along the way, starting in December and into next year.

“We designed BlueFirst to deliver a more accessible first-class experience that combines the thoughtful hospitality and service customers expect from JetBlue with exceptional value and comfort. We’re excited that customers can now start making BlueFirst part of their travel plan.”

The CEO added, “This is just the beginning. As we bring BlueFirst to more aircraft, customers will see it become available on routes and in markets across our network, giving them even more opportunities to choose an elevated JetBlue experience.”

First unveiled in September, BlueFirst’s vision is to give passengers enhanced comfort, technology upgrades, and curated food and beverages. The new first-class perk will start on longer flights. Passengers can look forward to several other perks, including more space in the first-class area.

The upgraded seats include “five inches of recline and up to seven inches of additional legroom compared with JetBlue’s Main seats.”

Entertainment-wise, the screens have also been updated to 13.3 inches and include Bluetooth connectivity. Meal upgrades will be included on flights of 899 miles or longer, and will include an entrée, side, and dessert, along with premium snacks on every BlueFirst service.

Other neat perks include ordering meals from your seatback screens, along with a dedicated overhead bin space, priority check-in, and other baggage perks.

For flyers who don’t wish to commit to the full BlueFirst perks, there are other alternatives. These include BlueFirst Flex and BlueFirst Base. Both cost less and include limited perks.

The inaugural flight with BlueFirst is extra special given that Fort Lauderdale was the carrier’s first-ever destination, as it now also becomes the first-ever destination featuring BlueFirst perks.

The airline will expand its routes in December, with additional flights starting in Fort Lauderdale. Other stops also include Liberia, Costa Rica.
