Applications are open for the 2027-28 Voluntary Prekindergarten program at Key Biscayne K-8 Center. Children who turn 4 on or before Sept. 1, 2027, are eligible to apply.
Families can apply at dadeschools.net through their parent portal. Under Admissions, select the VPK tile and follow the instructions. The application requires a birth certificate and proof of residency. Families also need a VPK Certificate of Eligibility, available through vpkhelp.org. The school is among the Miami-Dade County public schools that use a lottery for VPK placement.
Parents will be notified of lottery results by email on Feb. 1, 2027. Families offered a seat must accept it through the SchoolMint application.
The district flyer notes that children whose birthdays fall between Feb. 2 and Sept. 1 may postpone VPK enrollment until the following year, when they are 5.
