TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A longtime Tallahassee couple’s legacy is now part of the city’s landscape, as local leaders moved to honor community service through honorary street designations.

The City of Tallahassee recently recognized Rev. Dr. R.B. Holmes Jr. and Dr. Gloria P. Holmes by naming a street in their honor. The city cited their significant contributions to Tallahassee through education, faith-based leadership, community and economic development, housing, and service to families. The mayor also presented Rev. Dr. R.B. Holmes with a Key to the City.

In a separate tribute, family, friends and city leaders gathered to honor and remember Drs. Charles and Connie Evans, described as a remarkable couple who worked tirelessly to improve their community. Their daughter was expected to speak as part of the event, which also included the installation of an honorary street designation sign.
