TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A fire broke out at a recycling center in Leon County Monday morning, prompting a large-scale response from the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD).
TFD shared in a news release that the fire started before 5 a.m. at Marpan Recycling on Woodville Highway. A large pile of cardboard, estimated at 100,000 cubic feet, had caught ablaze.

TFD says crews worked from the ground and from ladder trucks to attack the fire. The release also says staff at Marpan used heavy machinery “to spread out the cardboard and allow crews to reach burning materials.”
Crews were able to get the fire under control. TFD has not stated what caused the fire.
